About House Plans

The oval shape in the middle of the house, which is badly shown in the images I have uploaded, extends right up to the roof and is, a entry foyer on the first floor, a foyer with access to a spiral staircase on the second floor and the deck on the roof.

We were limited by the size of our lot as to the type house we could build. We have a very small lot (25X100, which is typical of beach lots). However, this exact house has been built a couple of blocks away and the owner was kind enough to let us go inside and look around. We were very pleased with what we saw. We won't have a yard but we love the house and there is a park and the beach about 5-10 mins walk aways. We also like the fact that the roofdeck is big enough for a BBQ and a good sized table, so we can eat outside when the weather is good (which is most of the year in Southern CA).

There was another plan that we could have built. We also got a chance to walk around a finished house which used this plan. It was nice, but the living area was on the first floor and all the bedrooms were on the first floor. We decided it would be better to have the living area (where we would spend most of our time) on the second floor so we could utilise the ocean view balcony. There's no point having a view in a room where you are asleep and can't appreciate it!
