On Wednesday I booked a flight to Los Angeles. After calling the embassy and learning that it could be up to 13 weeks until I actually have an interview date (taking us up to the beginning of May), we decided that we had to see each other before then. Since Steve has been out here the last 2 times, and it was unlikely that he could get the holiday time from work, we decided that I should fly out there this time. So, I booked a flight to LA on February 28th to return on March 14th. I got a great deal on the flight which cost me £300, because it was off peak (the least I have ever paid is £277). We picked these two weeks because it meant that we would be together for my 25th birthday on March 2nd.

I know it sounds a little whiney, since we are doing all we can to break up the waiting period, but the fact that I am going out there in 2 weeks is not really cheering me up that much at the moment. Instead of focussing on the fact that we will see each other in a couple of weeks, I seem to be dwelling on the fact that it is just a "visit", and I have to come back to the UK for probably another 6 weeks afterwards. I realise that I only feel this way because I'm really missing him right now. Going by past experience, I also know that once I see him in two weeks time I will feel a whole lot more positive about waiting for my interview. I know in the grand scheme of things, May is not far away but I am finding it hard to convince myself of that at the moment. I keep telling myself that there are people with far worse problems, and that this waiting game WILL come to an end. However some part of my brain is not ready to listen yet... I'll have to keep working on that one. Roll on February 28th and even more so the beginning of May...
